Can one use teeth whitener if there is a cap on the front tooth?

Won't the cap stay discolored while the other teeth turn white? Is there any product that can change the color of a cap?

Caps do not whiten. Bleaching the rest of your teeth is fine, but if you let the Dentist polish the cap, then the top coting comes off, and it makes it dull. I suggest that you talk with your Dentist and see if he can replace it at a reasonable price. And before having it replaced have your teeth whitened. And by the way, Crest Whitening Strips do work. By the way, teeth colors determined by Dentist are A being the whitest, B, C, etc. So if you do have your teeth whitened always pick the lighter of the colors for your cap since you can always bleach your teeth to match. really the only way to get you teeth white is to visit the dentist. since the cap is porcelian, the surface stains should come off easy. those whiting products dont work.

the dentist should be able to polish the crown on your tooth, but the crown will not lighten in color when whitening your teeth. if you want the crown to match your lighter teeth, you will need to have the crown remade…

You can whiten all of your natural teeth but the crown will not lighten up at all. As someone else said the only way to get a whiter crown is to have it remade which is very expensive. I do not know of any product yet that will change the color of a crown or veneer. Hopefully this will change in the future. For now try to avoid things that will further stain your crown.
